Calculation Changelog
Current calculation version: 1.0.11
Calculation version 1.0.11
The 80% income target now uses the same rounded percentage you see on screen.
Calculation version 1.0.10
Income-gap guidance now uses the same take-home comparison as Results. State comparisons apply your entered tax percentage once.
Calculation version 1.0.9
State tax is now applied exactly as the percentage you entered.
Calculation version 1.0.8
Eligible regular FERS plans now estimate a separate supplement until the month before age 62. Unsupported military and special-retirement controls are hidden; your saved values are preserved. Income Adequacy now compares net retirement income with the same take-home baseline used in Results.
Calculation version 1.0.7
We corrected Social Security quick estimates to use SSA's published bend points for the year you reach 62, including the 2026 amounts. Your entered Social Security estimate and forecast COLA assumptions have not been automatically replaced.
Calculation version 1.0.6
We corrected Medicare Part B premiums. They now start from the 2026 amounts published by CMS and rise each calendar year, and the income-related surcharge uses all six CMS income levels, based on your income from two years earlier, as Social Security does. FERS pension cost-of-living adjustments now follow OPM's rule and, for regular retirement, start at age 62.
Calculation version 1.0.5
We made six corrections. Savings growth and contributions before retirement are now counted to the day instead of in whole years. Your high-3 is now the average of your final 36 months of pay before your retirement date. Pay raises are counted each January and cost-of-living adjustments each December, on the dates they take effect. A spouse's Medicare premium now stops after the spouse's assumed lifetime. Creditable service is counted in whole months and now includes unused sick leave, as OPM does. Social Security full retirement age now follows your birth year.
Calculation version 1.0.4
A spouse's Social Security benefit claimed before full retirement age is now reduced using Social Security's spousal rate. Plans where a spouse claims a spousal benefit early may show slightly lower income.
Calculation version 1.0.3
Required minimum distributions now start at the age set by law for your birth year (75 if you were born in 1960 or later), not 73 for everyone.
Calculation version 1.0.2
Your readiness score is now calculated one way on every page. Healthcare is scored on its share of your income late in retirement, and inflation protection on how well your FERS pension keeps its buying power.
Calculation version 1.0.1
We corrected how FEGLI Basic life insurance premiums are calculated in retirement. If you chose the 75% reduction, Basic is free starting the month after you turn 65.
